I Breed Pedigree Dogs

The National Register of Pedigree Dog Breeders

An independent not-for-profit community

  • A search of the Internet reveals thousands of websites with hundreds of dog breeders, trading kennels and others who will 'find' a suitable puppy and 'deliver' it to a convenient location.  It is therefore exceedingly difficult to find accurate, reliable and useful information.

  • The National Register of Pedigree Dog Breeders has been established to help.  The breeders and the websites on these pages have been researched and are approved by the Animal Care College, the UK's leading and longest established distance learning college devoted to animal care.

  • If you cannot find what you are looking for here the Kennel Club website is an excellent place to start and provides a great deal of very useful information about pedigree breeds, choosing a puppy and how to care for it.  It also provides a separate list of breeders who may not have puppies immediately but may provide you with information and accept bookings.

  • Another reliable site is Champdogs which provide lists of breeders, photographs and much other useful information for owners.

  • All members of this community registered on the I Breed Pedigree Dogs site have signed up to the Code of Best Practice developed by the Animal Care College based on its extensive knowledge and understanding of the world of pedigree dogs, breeding and animal care.

  • There are many other useful links on our Advice for New Owners page. We strongly advise you to look at it - it includes a free course for potential puppy owners on choice, care and training as well as useful Podcasts and other links

  • The College’s other ‘i’ sites for dog trainers, groomers and boarding kennels have been very successful: they, too, are ‘not-for-profit’ and simply provide information without cookies, pop-ups or distracting advertisements.

Those names with an 'arrow' symbol beside them (>) have provided extended details about their knowledge and experience.

Note for Local Authorities: Most members of the National Register of Pedigree Dog Breeders are hobby or small scale breeders and do not make a profit. Most are entitled to indicate that they sometimes have puppies available without that changing their status. This is not 'advertising a business' for few make a profit. Please refer to the 'badges of trade' before making any such an assumption.. Some will require a license but many will not.
